Yoga for Darker Times

I prepared this video for my parent organisation, TSYP, as part of a weekly series of simple, short practices designed to help us all navigate these often challenging weeks between mid-January into March, and to brighten the gloom of those winter days as well as other times of the year. I quote here from their message:

The Society of Yoga Practitioners (TSYP) is passionate about the benefits of yoga for mental health and well-being. In 2024, we were proud to receive charitable status, and one of our aims for 2025 is to find opportunities to make yoga available to those who need it most. These short practices are designed to be accessible to all, and we need your help to share them widely. When they arrive in your inbox, please share them with your family, friends, students, clients, and anyone else you think might benefit, this could also include local mental health and other relevant voluntary organisations.  These practices don’t require any special equipment.

This week’s practice – with Michael Hutchinson
In this standing practice of 7 minutes Michael will guide you through three simple breathing practices that will slow the breath and calm the mind.  This practice will also require the use of a chair or low table.

This practice is available to all to use free of charge, by accessing through a simple click to the TSYP YouTube channel, where you and others can also help TSYP by subscribing or giving us a like.

We hope you enjoy these varied practices yourself and can support us in distributing them far and wide.  Visit www.tsyp.yoga for further information about TSYP and its aim of advancing health and wellbeing through the medium of yoga.
